University Institute of Applied Management Sciences inaugurated its Sports Club and launched its rolling trophy on 22 November, 2022. The event was organised by Prof Monika Aggarwal , Director UIAMS and Dr. Rachita Sambyal, Convener Sports Cell , UIAMS.
Prof. Prashant K. Gautam, Director, Directorate of Sports, Panjab University was Chief Guest of the event and Mr. Abhimanyu Sandhu, National Shooter & UIAMS Alumni graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. Prof Monika Aggarwal welcomed the guests and apprised the students about importance of the sports since the historical times. She also highlighted the importance sports in Indian culture and value system.
Prof Prashant K. Gautam applauded the efforts of the Sports club of UIAMS and addressed the need for developing a collaborating infrastructure for conducting sports meet with industry. Mr Abhimanyu Sandhu in his address motivated the students play sports for health and performance and psychosocial development. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Naveen Kumar. The event was succeeded by various intra-departmental events like Volleyball, Throwball, Badminton and tug of war.
