Punjab State Traders’ Commission Holds Meeting at Balongi Market to Address Traders’ Issues
Punjab Government Committed to Safeguarding Interests of Traders; Issues to be Resolved on Priority: MLA Kulwant Singh

In line with the State Government’s commitment to enhancing ease of doing business at the grassroots level, and with the setting up of Punjab State Traders’ Commission units from Assembly Segment to District and further to the State level, a joint meeting of the District Traders’ Commission and Constituency Level Traders’ Commission was held today evening at Balongi Market. The meeting was chaired by MLA Mohali, S. Kulwant Singh, and witnessed participation from traders and shopkeepers of Mohali and Banur.
Addressing the gathering, MLA S. Kulwant Singh stated that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is firmly committed to safeguarding the interests of the trading community. He emphasized that such meetings are a part of the government’s ongoing efforts to directly engage with traders and ensure prompt redressal of their concerns. He further added that all departments associated with the business ecosystem have been directed to prioritize the resolution of issues faced by traders and shopkeepers, recognizing their vital role as the backbone of the State’s economy and key contributors to its development.
During the interaction, Chairman, District Traders’ Commission, S. Ranjit Pal Singh, Vice Chairperson, S. Tarlochan Singh Baidwan, and Constituency Chairman, S. Akvinder Singh Gosal, attentively listened to the grievances raised by traders and assured their timely resolution.
Chairperson, District Planning Committee, SAS Nagar, Ms Prabhjot Kaur, and SDM Mohali, Ms Damandeep Kaur, also interacted with the participants. The SDM reiterated that the district administration, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Ms. Komal Mittal, remains fully committed to addressing public concerns in a time-bound and efficient manner. Chairman Market Committee, Mohali, Givinder Mittal was also present.
Officers from various departments, including Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar, Police Department, State Tax Officer Rajeev Sharma (SAS Nagar-3), Municipal Council Banur, Revenue Department (Naib Tehsildar, Mohali and Banur), Health Department (Senior Medical Officers, Mohali and Banur), Rural Development (BDPO, Mohali and Banur), Food and Civil Supplies (AFSO, Mohali and Banur), District Industries Centre, Labour Department, PSPCL, Water Supply and Sanitation, and Public Works Department (PWD), were also present during the meeting.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the district administration's commitment to strengthening coordination between departments and traders and ensuring a business-friendly environment across the district.
