Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, alongwith the Administrator UT Chandigarh, to Felicitate International and National Level Sportspersons of Chandigarh
Chandigarh, 30th May 2025: The Hon’ble Union Minister of Labour and Employment and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya along with the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria shall facilitate the outstanding sportspersons from the Union Territory of Chandigarh who have brought laurels to the city by securing First, Second, and Third positions in prestigious International and National Level Competitions and Championships.
The Felicitation Programme is being organized by the Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration on 31st May 2025 at the Post Graduate College for Girls, Sector-42, Chandigarh.
New projects like the Chess centers at Sports Complex Sector 39 and 8 and the Billiards and Snooker Hall at Sports Complex Sector 42 were completed in expeditious manner. The Billiards and Snooker hall and Chess center shall also be inaugurated during the event by the chief guest.
This prestigious event is being organized to recognize the dedication, hard work, and excellence of athletes who have excelled across 28 sporting disciplines, including Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Boxing, Cycling, among others. In total, 08 International and 479 National-level sportspersons will be felicitated during the programme. The Administration will be presenting cash awards amounting to over ₹5.67 crores and scholarships amounting to over ₹1.32 as a mark of appreciation to these players for their remarkable performances and contribution to sports.
The programme aims to inspire the next generation of athletes and reinforce Chandigarh’s commitment to becoming a premier sporting hub in the country.
