:PGIMER Operationalises Hospital Information System at Sangrur Satellite Centre*
*Digital model to be replicated at PGIMER Chandigarh, says Prof. Vivek Lal, Director PGIMER*
Accomplishing another milestone on the New Year, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh has successfully operationalised its *Hospital Information System (HIS)* at the *PGIMER Satellite Centre, Sangrur,* with effect from *1st January 2026,* marking a significant milestone in the Institute’s digital health journey.
Highlighting the importance of this initiative, *Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER,* stated, “The successful rollout of the HIS at Sangrur reflects PGIMER’s focused approach towards comprehensive digitisation of hospital services. The system has been designed to enhance efficiency, transparency and patient convenience, and *the same digital framework will be further strengthened and replicated at PGIMER Chandigarh* to ensure uniform, seamless and patient-centric service delivery across all PGIMER facilities.”
In the first phase, essential modules including *Patient Registration, Billing, and Admission–Discharge–Transfer (ADT)* have been made operational and are currently being used for routine hospital functions. Additional modules such as *Doctor Desk, Laboratory Services, and Stores/Inventory Management* are in advanced stages of training and trial runs and will be rolled out shortly to complete the integrated digital workflow.
Detailing the initiative further, *Mr. Pankaj Rai, Deputy Director (Administration), PGIMER,* stated, ‘A clear timeline had been set to operationalise the HIS at Sangrur from 1st January 2026, and the target was achieved through close coordination and sustained efforts of all concerned teams.”
“The Hospital Information System has been developed by *C-DAC, Noida,* as part of PGIMER’s broader digital transformation roadmap. The Sangrur Satellite Centre, *a 350-bedded hospital,* is among the early adopters of this robust system, which aims to streamline hospital operations, improve real-time data access, and strengthen the overall quality of patient care, added Mr. Rai.
The successful commissioning of the HIS at Sangrur underscores PGIMER’s commitment to leveraging technology for strengthening public healthcare delivery and advancing efficient, transparent and patient-focused services.
