MP Manish Tewari inaugurates open air gym at leisure Valley under MPLAD Fund

* To promote fitness and encourage a healthy lifestyle among citizens, an Open Air Gym developed under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) Fund at an approximate cost of ₹2.43 lakh was inaugurated today at Leisure Valley, Sector 10, Chandigarh by Sh. Manish Tewari, Member of Parliament, UT, Chandigarh.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, Sh. Mahesh Inder Sidhu, Councillor, Ward No. 2, MC Chief Engineer Sh. Sanjay Arora, representatives of the Resident Welfare Association (RWA), officials of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and other distinguished guests.
Addressing the gathering, Sh. Manish Tewari said that the installation of public fitness infrastructure is an important step towards promoting a healthier and more active society. He urged citizens of all age groups to make full use of the facility and adopt regular physical activity as part of their daily routine.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS appreciated the initiative and said that the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh remains committed to creating and maintaining quality public amenities that enhance the quality of life for residents. He emphasized that such facilities not only promote fitness but also encourage greater public participation in the use and upkeep of community spaces.
Councillor Sh. Mahesh Inder Sidhu welcomed the installation of the Open Air Gym and expressed confidence that it would greatly benefit residents, particularly senior citizens, youth and morning walkers visiting Leisure Valley.
Residents and RWA members appreciated the initiative and thanked the Hon'ble Member of Parliament and the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh for providing a modern fitness facility in one of the city's prominent public parks.
